Each of our radar detectors with OLED displays contains a sensor that allows it to determine the proper brightness for the display based on the illumination levels in the surrounding environment. This sensor is located in a similar place on most OLED display detectors, as illustrated on the Redline 360c below:

This sensor will brighten the display in bright conditions, and darken it in darker conditions. Auto brightness is recommended to reduce the likelihood of ghosting images on the OLED, display burnout, and to help increase the lifespan of the OLED.
